This 1958 MGA Roadster underwent a full nut and bolt restoration to a custom specification. Unfortunately with their Jaguar XK140 project well underway, they are reluctantly having to sell their beloved MGA Roadster.

Originally exported to America, it was been imported back over and restored to a custom specification. We have worked with the customer at length during this project to make sure the car was tailored to their preferences, resulting in a very unique MGA Roadster.

With a bespoke colour scheme of ‘Jaguar Dark Blue’ and an interior of full leather ‘Lena Chocolate’, this MGA looks superb and drives even better with 1800cc engine, gas flowed cylinder head and 5 speed gearbox upgrades.

The car was stripped to a bare shell and removed from the chassis. It was then taken back to bare metal, treated with Jenolite (acid rust eater), etch primed, primed and painted in Jaguar Dark Blue – as requested by the customer. The chassis was sand blasted and required no welding before being primed, painted and fully rebuilt. The rebuild included all new leaf springs, rear telescopic Spax shock absorbers, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, front coil springs, steering rack, copper brake pipes, brake flexi hoses, polybush suspension, as well as a front brake disc and caliper conversion.

An 1800cc MGB engine was completely rebuilt, including a gas flowed cylinder head for added performance. The build also included new oil pump, pistons, timing chain kit and tensioners etc. A new ‘Type 9’ 5 speed gearbox was also fitted, with a new clutch. Once the engine was fitted on new mounts, the engine bay was detailed with new parts including an aluminium radiator, Revotec electric fan, brake servo, completely rebuilt heater unit, oil cooler with braided hoses, CSI electronic ignition kit, OE master cylinder, electric washer pump, plus all new hoses and fittings.

For the cockpit, we worked with the customer comparing interior samples to compliment the Jaguar Dark Blue paint. We came to a conclusion to upgrade the entire trim kit to full leather and finish with a deep shade of chocolate leather. This leather was also used in the complete overhaul of the seats. Deluxe navy wool carpets have been fitted, as well as in the boot. The dashboard has had the original clocks overhauled and calibrated, with all new switches fitted and connected to the new wiring loom. A custom made steering wheel from Mota Lita was fitted, with the customer wanting less rivots on show with a deeper wood shade. A navy mohair hood cover and short tonneau cover were also fitted to compliment the colour scheme. The car was finished on new 5Jx15 60 spoke chrome wire wheels, with new Blockley tyres.

The customer has thoroughly enjoyed owning this MGA, covering only 3,000 miles since the rebuild. However with their XK140 project now taking priority, it is unfortunately time for the MGA to find a new home.
